Kent ISD offers a range of programs and resources for students including career exploration and training, early college, online high school courses and much more.

High School Programs

Kent Career Tech Center Get ready to experience an entirely different way of learning. We offer real life, real learning in 20+ programs with free college credit, all taught by teachers who have worked in that field. By integrating the learning environment with real-world applications, we arm students with knowledge and experience they can apply directly to college and career. The Tech Center

Launch U This hands-on early college program is in collaboration with Grand Rapids Community College. Beginning in 10th grade, students can begin a career path ending with industry connections, skill certificates and a tuition-free Associate Degree in just one year after high school. Launch U

MySchool@Kent MySchool@Kent combines interesting, online learning, with the best part of school - the caring relationships. In addition to online studies, students experience just-in-time learning and tutoring in our learning labs, in a comfortable, café-style environment. My School at Kent

Center Programs

Deaf & Hard of Hearing - Oral Deaf The Oral Deaf Program provides specialized instruction, in order to develop skills in listening and spoken language, so that every student may fully participate in academic and social opportunities within their school and community.

Deaf & Hard of Hearing - Total Communication The Total Communication Program provides access and instruction in American Sign Language, spoken English, or a combination of both to ensure that every deaf and hard of hearing student develops a full language and can gain meaningful education.

Early Childhood Center The Early Childhood Center offers students aged 3-5 preschool special education. The program has two locations: Greenridge Elementary and South Godwin Elementary.

Empower U Empower U, in partnership with our community, provides specialized instruction and opportunities specific to employment and independent living skills necessary for young adults to live a purposeful and productive life.

KEC Oakleigh KEC Oakleigh serves students K-8 who have significant emotional impairments and persistent behavioral concerns.

Kent Education Center - Beltline KEC Beltline is a dual program for students with emotional impairments offering a high school diploma as well as preparing them for transitioning into the world of work.

Lincoln Developmental Center We educate students with complex needs by providing specialized instruction specific to the communication, academic, adaptive behavior, mobility, and adult living skills required to develop independence.

Lincoln School Lincoln School serves students with special needs from Kindergarten through age 26. Students at Lincoln School have moderate to severe cognitive impairments, are severely multiply impaired, or have autism.

Pine Grove Learning Center Pine Grove serves students with special needs who have moderate to severe cognitive impairments, are severely multiply impaired, or have autism from Kindergarten through age 26.

Spelling Bee
Students in grades 3-8 can compete in school, then regional spelling bees, culminating in The Greater Grand Rapids Spelling Bee. This is a Regional bee affiliated with the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The winner wins a trip to compete in the prestigious Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Spelling bees help students improve their spelling, expand their vocabularies, learn language concepts, and develop correct English usage, plus composure under the spotlight, which will help them all of their lives.
